EYFS and Key Stage 1

Within the EYFS and Key Stage 1 learning stage our aim is to provide pupils with complex needs, with an environment that supports each child’s communication, physical, social and emotional development so they feel safe, secure and confident to engage with others and the world around them. Across this learning stage, there will be a range of abilities acknowledging the different needs and learning profile of each pupil. We have therefore created suitable provision and curriculum encompassing opportunities most suited to pupils' emerging needs, facilitating small steps of progress. As pupils progress through this stage, we aim to give them the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to progress into an appropriate learning pathway.

The EYFS and Key Stage 1 offer has been built with a child-centred approach, acknowledging the child’s needs, what they know and can do. Adapting the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework to ensure development and opportunities are focused in the key areas of child development. Further inspiration is taken from birth to 5 matters (2021) focusing on the three key areas, to support the learning and development of every child.
