Our School Uniform
Uniform is important to us because it means that our pupils develop a sense of belonging. We do understand that for some of our pupils with sensory needs, it is difficult for them to wear our branded uniform and so we are happy for them to wear plain polo shirts without the embroidered logo.

Jewellery is not allowed.  Rings, nose studs or other facial jewellery, nail varnish and make up are not allowed.  Ear-rings may be worn but only one stud in each ear, in the lower part of the ear lobe and must be removed or covered up with blue plaster for PE and technology classes.  Excessive hair styles are strongly discouraged and all pupils with long hair must have it tied back whilst on the school site.  

Preferably, shoes must be black, sensible ones for school use.  Variations may be permitted upon discussion with a Senior Leader.

Primary Uniform

• White polo shirt 
• Purple sweatshirt with Medeshamstede logo (plain sweatshirts may also be worn).
• Dark grey or black formal trousers or skirt or plain joggers (jeans, cords, and ‘hipster’ trousers are not allowed, skirts are to be no shorter than knee length) 
• Pinafore dress
• Sensible black shoes or plain black trainers, flat soled or with very low heels (no more than two centimetres high) – not boots

Secondary Uniform

• White or black polo shirt 
• Black sweatshirt with Medeshamstede logo (plain sweatshirts may also be worn).

• Black shorts or tracksuit bottoms 
• White or purple sports polo shirt 
• PE bag, in black
• Suitable trainers or other PE footwear

Other items

• a warm coat (not denim/leather) for travelling to and from school.
• sun hats for summer

Supporting Families with Uniform Costs

The Academy is committed to ensuring that the cost of school uniform does not become a barrier to attendance or participation. When setting and reviewing uniform requirements we carefully consider affordability and seek to minimise costs for families by keeping the number of compulsory branded items to a minimum and allowing key items to be purchased from a range of high-street and supermarket retailers.

To further support families, the Academy operates a second-hand uniform scheme. Good-quality pre-owned uniform items are made available to parents and carers at low cost or free of charge, subject to availability. Information on how to access second-hand uniform, donate items, or seek additional support is available from the school office.

Families experiencing financial hardship are encouraged to contact the school in confidence. We will work sensitively with parents and carers to identify appropriate support and ensure that no pupil is disadvantaged because of difficulties in obtaining the correct uniform. The Academy is committed to promoting dignity, inclusion and equal access to education for all pupils.
